Our Story

Hand dyed woollen yarn by Himalayan Naari living in remote mountain villages in Northern India. Our artisans blends traditional craftsmanship with sustainable practices in our new naturally-dyed wool collection. For generations, indigenous communities in the Himalayan
mountains have used local plants and flowers to create stunning, vibrant colors. Today,
Naari's dyers and artisans are reviving this lost art, organically dyeing wool in rich, elegant hues.

Lets start from the beginning...

Himalayan Naari

Himalayan Naari is a Fair Trade–certified nonprofit dedicated to empowering women in remote villages of North India by creating sustainable livelihood opportunities rooted in traditional craft. As a registered 501(c)(3) initiative under the Himalayan Education Foundation, it works to preserve cultural heritage while enabling economic independence for women artisans.

Through hands-on training, mentorship, and access to global markets, Himalayan Naari supports women in transforming their skills into meaningful sources of income. One such initiative is Lofty Peaks Yarn, which is entirely hand-dyed by the artisans using natural dyes—reviving a traditional practice while creating high-quality, consciously made yarn.

Each product reflects a deep connection to the land, the craft, and the community behind it. At its core, Himalayan Naari is about more than craft—it is about dignity, opportunity, and empowerment, ensuring that women are not only supported, but recognized as skilled creators and changemakers.
